Loyal customers of this iconic brand of opticians’ were delighted to be part of their Valentine’s Day celebrations, as the Deputy Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Sana Jafri, formally re-opened the store after its £100,000 facelift.
In its 30th year anniversary, the Deputy Mayor met her Specsavers Putney hosts, Valpreet Chana, optical director, and Thomas Reid, retail director, who introduced Councillor Jafri to the team. The Deputy Mayor was then given a tour of the newly modernised practice, which now has four consulting rooms, with one dual room offering audiology services. Specsavers Putney also offers enhanced clinical services, including MECS (Minor Eye Condition Services) and CUES (Community Urgent Eyecare Service) – the only opticians in the locality to offer these services.
With its updated, stylised new frame displays, in-store lighting and wall mounts, Specsavers Putney has enhanced its floor space, which means customers have a greater choice of clinics for both sight and hearing services, with three optical clinics a day and two hearing clinics held on Wednesday and Friday.
The Deputy Mayor of Wandsworth officially cut the Specsavers green ribbon to mark the opening and then mingled with guests including Lataliya Blackman-Williams, from CHEC, Tanith Galer, Specsavers Regional Relationship Manager, SW London, Deepali Modha, Specsavers Clinical Performance Consultant, Greater London, Lottie Gregory, Specsavers Field Marketing Manager, Greater London plus local dignitaries, including Fleur Brass from the Positively Putney BID team.
Following her official civic duties, Councillor Sana Jafri was given a sight test so she could experience the testing rooms first-hand. This included an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) 3D scan, which is advanced diagnostic, eye-scanning equipment that helps detect serious eye conditions, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, up to four years earlier than traditional methods.
Store partners Valpreet Chana and Thomas Reid wanted to celebrate the store’s facelift with their loyal, longstanding customers. So those who were in store on 14 February received a free OCT test, plus goodie bag, including chocolates and other Valentine’s delights to spread the love and make the day special to all.
Commenting on the celebration and re-launch, Thomas Reid, retail director, says:
‘We were delighted that the Deputy Mayor of Wandsworth was able to officially re-launch Specsavers Putney and join in the Valentine’s Day celebrations along with the team and customers.
‘The recent expansion and facelift makes a huge difference to its look and feel, plus the extra space enhances our customers’ in-store experience.’
Optical director Valpreet Chana comments: ‘The recent investment means that we can now offer our customers enhanced services, plus our hospital grade diagnostic testing equipment means customers can visit us with any eye care issues, as we normally offer emergency appointments on the day.
‘As a team, we’re looking forward to continuing to deliver the best customer service and care across the community for many years to come.’
An additional service of the store is the provision of CHEC Battersea cataract referral. A scheme is offered by the NHS, which refers patients to the private hospital via Specsavers Putney, with the aim of reducing waiting times. The store also offers customers a cataract appointment follow-up, post-surgery.
