A Rutherglen opticians and audiology clinic has revealed a brand-new look following a significant £250,000 refurbishment.
Specsavers, located on Stonelaw Road in the town centre, has undergone a complete transformation as a result of increased customer demand in the local area.
The new-look store includes five new testing rooms positioned across two floors, including a dedicated audiology room, to accommodate the needs of its growing customer base.
State-of-the-art testing equipment has been installed throughout, including an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine, which allows optometrists to take a 3D image of the back of the eye to help spot serious eye conditions, such as glaucoma, up to four years earlier.
The store also benefits from automated phoropter heads in each of their optical test rooms, allowing customers a more comfortable experience during their eye tests.
Meanwhile, the store has also introduced an ear wax removal service as it increases its audiology offering following a surge in customer demand.
Arlene Stephenson, director at Specsavers in Rutherglen, says: ‘We’ve been welcomed with open arms by the community of Rutherglen since taking on the operational responsibilities for the store in the town last April.
‘With that said, we’re delighted to unveil our brand-new facility that we hope will provide our much-loved customers with a fantastic experience from the minute they walk through our doors.
‘Not only is our space bigger and more welcoming, but it also includes state-of-the-art equipment that helps us continue to pave the way for industry-leading eye and hearing care in the town.
‘Specsavers has been proud to serve the community of Rutherglen for a number of years, and we look forward to welcoming customers both existing and new to our wonderful new space.’
Staff were joined by members of the local community to celebrate the launch of the new-look store at a special ribbon cutting ceremony held on Saturday 9 March 2024, with Capital Scotland drivetime host, Katy J officially opening the new look store.
Katy says: ‘What an honour to open this fantastic new facility that will benefit the people of Rutherglen for years to come.
‘As someone who wears glasses and regularly goes for eye check-ups, it’s great to know state-of-the-art facilities like this are accessible to people who live in towns, as well as those who live in cities.’
Arlene adds: ‘It was lovely to be joined by Katy J and some of our biggest supporters from the community to celebrate the launch of our new-look store.
‘We’re always keen to provide our support to groups and organisations who are making a real difference in the town, and would encourage anyone who believes they could benefit from our support to get in touch.’
