To mark Specsavers’ Big Birthday and providing care in the community for all these years, the team at New Malden celebrated this occasion on Valentine’s Day.
Really getting into the spirit of the event, store partners Karina Peshawaria, retail director, and Bhavisha Patel, ophthalmic director, were spreading the love across their community, with every customer who was booked in for a sight test receiving a surprise gift from their ‘Love is in the Air’ lucky dip. Gifts included a free OCT test which normally costs £10, free lens spray cleaners and money-off vouchers for customers buying new glasses.
The story behind the growth of Specsavers is inspiring for business owners and entrepreneurs alike. Starting out in very humble beginnings from a ping pong table in the founders’ spare bedroom in 1984, Specsavers is now the largest privately owned eyecare and audiology company in the world, with more than 2,500 businesses in 11 countries.
Customers of Specsavers New Malden have benefited from their local High Street opticians for the last 22 years, being able to access both sight and hearing services, including emergency triage appointments. The ethos of Specsavers has remained the same over the last 40 years, with its purpose of wanting to change lives through better sight and hearing, by making expert care accessible and affordable for everyone.
Karina Peshawaria comments: ‘As young business owners ourselves, we wanted to share this special occasion with our customers. Also Valentine’s Day is about celebrating friendship and love. Both Bhavisha and I are passionate about our community and ensuring we offer everyone the very best in-store experience.’
Continuing Bhavisha Patel says: ‘It was a great day. The fun, lively atmosphere was infectious, and it brought everyone together – we are delighted to be making that small difference to our customers’ lives. We’re looking forward to being part of our local High Street for many years to come.’
