When Scott Mowat and his partner Ciaran Corrigan made the exciting decision to buy a new home, they knew exactly where they wanted to live – Jordanhill Park.
The couple were familiar with Cala Home’s (West) flagship development in Glasgow’s west end and as soon as the homebuilder released its Mews homes, they instantly booked an appointment to see the new three-bedroom Austin housetype. It wasn’t long before they knew it was the home for them.
Scott said: “We were originally going to choose a different plot within Jordanhill Park, but when we visited the development, we completely changed our minds and opted for the plot we are in now. Going to Jordanhill Park and seeing it for ourselves really made such a huge difference. Plus, Ciaran lived in the west end of Glasgow for some time, and since we met, he’s been keen to return so we knew this was the area we wanted to buy and settle in.
“Buying with Cala was super simple; we had been looking for a new home for about two years and kept up-to-date with Cala so when the three-bedroom mews homes launched, we were desperate to find out more. The sales team were fantastic, they were with us throughout the whole process and answered all of our questions, of which there were many!”
Not only do Scott and Ciaran love their new home thanks to its spacious open plan living and high specification, but the development itself has a very special connection for Scott.
He continued: “I studied primary education and attended the University of Strathclyde, which at the time was on the grounds of the development when it was Glasgow’s university for teaching. Before becoming a student teacher, my first ever visit was when I was only 15 years old and I attended a summer school run by the university. For me, living in Jordanhill Park is really special and has lots of great, nostalgic memories.”
The Austin housetype is a three-bedroom home set across three spacious levels with open plan kitchen, dining and living area, an impressive main bedroom spanning the whole top floor with an en suite and a further two bedrooms, one with an en suite, and a stylish family bathroom.
Scott added: “We love the main bedroom, I mean a whole floor just for us, what’s not to love! The living space on the ground floor is perfect too as we really like to entertain friends and family.
“We also love the bi-fold doors in the kitchen and living area, they really help make the space feel bigger and brings the outside in.
“Energy efficiency was also something that was important to us when looking at homes. Having solar panels is fantastic and something we were really keen to have. We are also planning to install an electric car charger which will link directly to the panels too.”
It’s not just the home itself which caught Scott and Ciaran’s attention, they also love the amount of green space the development has to offer, which is ideal since the couple have welcomed a new member of the family, their Belgian Griffon puppy, Ford.
Having made the decision to get a dog upon moving, the parklands that surround Jordanhill Park, as well as the spacious garden and the designated Mews Park area is the perfect place for Ford and his parents to stretch their legs and get some fresh air.
Another big advantage for Scott and Ciaran was the close proximity of their new home to both of their workplaces. Having previously lived in Robroyston, the couples commute is now shorter than ever.
Scott continued: “It’s so handy for work, I can walk to work and Ciaran is just a short car drive to his workplace plus we’re lucky we’re so near the Jordanhill train station so we can get into the city centre in just 10 minutes.”
Prices at Jordanhill Park start at £395,000 for a two-bedroom apartment and £499,995 for a three bedroom Mews townhouse.
